Blackjack, which sails on Lake Sardis, operates sailing camps throughout the summer and provides hand-on instruction that provides technical skills as well as leadership opportunities in a safe and fun environment!

The school worked with the Sardis Lake Marina and the US Army Corp of Engineers to create a special, designated sailing area on the lake just for beginners.  Intermediate and Advanced sailors have access to the entire 98,520-acre lake.

“These boats are perfectly designed for young people or new sailors to learn or master their new sailing skills on,” said Blackjack’s James Sabatier.  “They are also really fun to learn on and very forgiving for new sailors.”

The thrill of watching the students get introduced to a new skill or challenge and achieve success is the driving force behind Blackjack.

“Watching young people learn and accomplish multiple sailing skills is exciting. Being able to teach teamwork and leadership and see the kids apply the skills is rewarding to both them and the staff,” said Sabatier.
