East Coast Sailboats/Sail OBX has been teaching sailing on the Outer Banks since 2016. Our experienced and professional staff of US Sailing Instructors, excellent fleet of sailboats, superior locations, warm shallow waters and steady breezes combine to make sailing on the Currituck sound the best on the Outer Banks.
The goal of our camps is to provide an exciting and fun experience during which students develop sailing skills, learn seamanship, water safety, gain self-confidence and most importantly have fun!! Our step process of teaching sailing takes young aspiring sailors from our introductory course, to learning how to sail and beyond. We use the US Sailing course curriculum in ‘Learning Sailing Right’ and ‘The Little Red Book.’
Swimming Requirements
For safety, all sailors are required to pass a basic swimming check on their first day. The test includes a 25-yard swim without the assistance of a life jacket and 3 minutes of treading or floating on the water with a life jacket. Parents, please understand that if your child does not pass they will not be able to continue with camp.
